Volunteers of the Port Curtis Historical Society run the village. Its collection began with the Calliope Shire centenary in 1979, and the village opened in 1983 when its first building, the Ambrose railway station, arrived. Since then buildings from across the district have been moved here, including Hazeldean Church, Raglan Memorial Hall, the Clyde Hotel and the Yarwun railway station, which is now the ticket office and kiosk.
The kiosk serves Devonshire tea, coffee and light lunches. On market days there are train rides (closed-in shoes needed) and drinks at the Clyde Hotel.
